Re-imagining the dishwasher.
This kitchen wash-station integrates the sink and dishwasher, offering premium comfort, composition and ease of installation. Simple to operate, this under-sink dishwasher elevates smoothly above the counter for loading / unloading and retracts under to wash. Options can be set using a touch-screen that offers access at eye-level.

Project background
The problem
Dishwashers are typically under the counter and clunky to use and maintain. Having to bend to load & unload it taxes the back, has limited visibility and is not user friendly. They are also tricky to install, often requiring custom paneling to make it fit within the kitchen.
The area under the kitchen sink is usually underutilized. Prone to leaks and dampness, it is perceived as an ‘unclean’ area within the kitchen. What if this area can be utilized better?
Exploration & development
What if the sink & the dishwasher were a unit? That would make it easy to install considering that the plumbing required is similar. Like the oven & the cooktop, this has the potential to become an integrated device!
Dishwasher elevates over the countertop for access. Retracts under the counter for washing.
Utilizes the powerful scissor lift mechanism to elevate and retract. Hydraulic assistance keeps the motion smooth and predictable.
Every utensil has its place.
The over-the-counter access to loading and unloading makes it easier to access the dishwasher space without the use of trays. This allows for configurations that are dedicated to various kinds of utensils.
Weight activated spray system.
The internal construction includes separate spring-loaded trays. The water flow to these trays are controlled through weight activated systems. This allows for zonal washing - thus saving water. No more waiting to fill-up the dishwasher to run it!
Simplified plumbing for quick installation.
The sink and the dishwasher both require hot & cold water plumbing. Now that they are integrated into one unit, plumbing gets unified and hence simpler to install. The power supply is also been standardized to meet certifications.
